Project description:
The HEAL-ABCD study uses data from the Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development study of 12,000 youth from across the country. The goal of the study is to define the brain basis of adverse cognitive consequences of evidence of harm and endangerment two important criteria for to diagnosis of child abuse and neglect, collectively called childhood maltreatment (CM). The study aims to develop transdisciplinary and data-driven approaches to the identification of CM cohorts in a large cognitive developmental dataset (ABCD) and distinguish cognitive neurobiological models of harm and endangerment as well as risk, protective, and causal mechanisms.
